The Envision Process

Our process is design with construction in mind, and then it’s construction with design in mind. Creative design, real-world cost estimating, and construction ‘best practices’ add to the project at every stage. Below are the typical steps in our process.

STEP 1: GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

– INITIAL PHONE CONVERSATION

We like to get a feel for what your vision is. This helps us come prepared to meet your needs where you are at in the planning process.

– FACE-TO-FACE MEETING

Most importantly, we need to know if we are a good fit for each other. Just as you need to vet out your Contractor, we vet out our clients. We can discuss the vision and scope, and then we can come back with an estimate and a breakdown.

– PROPOSAL FOR PRE-CONSTRUCTION

Depending on the size and scope of the project, we may be able to give you an estimate/bid on the project as a whole, or we can bid out the design phase, and once that is completed, we can finalize the numbers for the construction.

STEP 2: PLANNING: PRE-CONSTRUCTION

– PRE-DESIGN/FEASIBILITY

Establish project parameters. This usual applies to additions, large room alterations and wall moving.

– CONCEPT DESIGN

Explore design options (good, better, best). Room layout and flow. What materials and finishes do you want?

– CONSTRUCTION PLANNING & FINALIZATION

Once the plans and material options have been finalized, we can finalize the planning on construction side. Depending on the materials you use, the cost to install may also change as well. For example, lock snap flooring is cheaper to install compared to real hard wood installations.

– PROPOSAL TO CONSTRUCT PROJECT

Fixed price and time based on the proposed scope.

STEP 3: THE PROJECT: CONSTRUCTION

– DEMOLITION & SITE WORK

We prep the ground, demo the interior, and create a clean slate to begin building.

– FRAMING & ROUGH-IN

Once framed, we will rough in the electrical, plumbing and HVAC as necessary.

– FINISHES AND TRIM WORK

Once the new structures and rough-in are in place, we are ready to make it beautiful. We add the cabinets, floors, trimming, lights, etc.

– APPLIANCES & ACCESSORIES

Our last step is moving in all the appliances, installing the toilets and faucets, and putting on all nobs and handles.

– PUNCH LIST ITEMS

After we complete the job, we will walk through it with you and note any items that we need to touch up etc.
